H&B took on a touring Becchamians side and, although Hastings were physically handicapped by the sheer size of the Becchamian players, they still struck the first blow with a tricky penalty, taken well by Loewy Simmons.
The Becchamians power then showed with 3 unanswered tries.
Some brilliant tackling and ball catching from Harry Walker helped curb the deficit.
A great run from Will Phelps led to a Ben Davies try for Hastings before half time. However Becchamians added a fourth try before the break
The second half saw a switch in the domination of the game. A brace of tries by Ben Davies, giving him his hat trick, and one from Jacob Routley, two of which were converted by Loewy Simmons saw H&B run out 19 -12 winners of the second half.
Will Phelps had an excellent second half along with Ben Davies. Ryan Borthwick, & Ben Coles, playing in new positions, played well and some excellent under pressure kicking from Ed Feist all contributed to H&B's improved performance in the second half. The pack dominated the scrums throughout the second half.
The under 15s played with no substitutes available and that, as well as the size handicap and Old Becchamians having a full set of substitutes, gave the visitors a real advantage. However, the team performed brilliantly and there were no real weak links in the team.
There were outstanding performances by many of the team but Will Phelps was awarded Man of the Match for his excellent play throughout the game.
