A cold Sunday morning saw H&B welcome Crawley under 14s for a friendly game.
The game started well, early pressure from the Hastings pack gained a penalty that saw Hastings No 5 Harrison Cox bulldoze his way across the line from 15m out to make it 5-0.
Soon captain Archie Meakle was on the score, a kick from Scott Sherwood saw Meakle pounce on a loose ball and out sprint the Crawley players and over for a try 10-0.
The second half was much like the first with back row James Hirst scoring under the posts after Crawley were unable to clear their line (15-0) converted by Ollie Fisher(17-0).
Jake Begg added the next score with a pickup from the base of a 5m scrum and crossing the line unopposed (22-0) converted by Fisher (24-0) . Archie Meakle scored his second try of the game (29-0). The Hastings tackling in defence suddenly went missing and this allowed Crawley to pull back a score (29-5).
Hastings regrouped and saw Scott Sherwood run though the Crawley defence to score under the posts (34-5) converted by Fisher 36 -5
Archie Meakle then scored two successive tries, his third and fouth of the day. Archie's final try was taken just before the full time whistle making the final score
46 - 5.
Player of the match was James Hirst.
