Winner Plant

GILBERT

FIRST IN 1823. FOREMOST EVER SINCE. RUGBY.

30 years before Harry Gray was setting up in Cambridge, William Gilbert (1799-1877) was the boot and shoe maker to Rugby School. He operated from a small shop in the town at 19, High Street which was later acquired by Grays as a sports shop and still operates to this day.

By 1823, GILBERT was already supplying balls to Rugby School when William Webb Ellis first picked up and ran with the ball and the game of Rugby Football began. These early balls were larger and rounder than today's ball and could be kicked a long distance. At that time, there was no fixed shape or size as this depended on the pig's bladder used.
Gilbert have been sponsors of Hastings & Bexhill RFC since 2007 both of us have a long history in Rugby and we are looking forward to a long relationship with the club in the future.

Trade Paints started life as Battle Decorating Center (BDC) in 1962 and in 1964 registered the name "Trade Paints Limited". With local branches in Hastings, Bexhill and Hailsham as well as our 10,000m2 premises in Ponswood Industrial Estate
Trade Paints serves local tradesman and the public as well as providing a wholesale service to other independent DIY stores throughout Kent and Sussex. We also sell Power Tools, Ladders & Towers, Site & Safety clothing, Pest Control products,
