Colts forced to share the spoils in Cranleigh stalemate

Hastings & Bexhill Colts 10 Cranleigh Colts 10

Hastings made the long trip to Cranleigh on Sunday in search of their 3rd win in a row. The game started with the home team putting Hastings (who were obviously suffering from jet lag) under a lot of pressure but the Hastings defence held firm.

A serious leg injury to a Cranleigh player resulted in the match being relocated to an adjacent pitch, this disruption appeared to affect the concentration of H&B and a loose fly kick was gathered by the Cranleigh wing who scored in the corner.

The loss of 5 points galvanised H&B into action, straight from the kick off Elliot Simmons hunted down the Cranleigh 15 and from the resulting scrum Hastings 8 Chris Stern powered over to score.

After the score the Hastings pack began to take control with a number of drives and the ball being released to the backs who began to look more threatening as the game developed. From second phase, a chip by Tom Waring was gathered by James Morris who outpaced the defence to score.

Towards the last ten minutes Hastings began to tire and a break by the Cranleigh backs resulted in another score by Cranleigh.

This was to be the final score in a 10 -10 draw.

Hastings entertain Ashford at William Parker Sports College on Sunday (20th Dec) 12.00 kick off, all support welcome.
