New Ash Green III 0 Hastings & Bexhill III 60

"Rampant thirds burn opposition to Ash in 10 try win"

After the disappointing result of the previous weekend, the thirds of Hastings & Bexhill bounced back with a resounding 10 try victory.

The opposition were bottom of Mid Kent & east Sussex League C but complacency was not going to hold back H&B and from the start they were dominant in all areas.

H&B led 17-0 at half time, thanks to tries from Andy Small, Alex Waring and Matt Dawes with a conversion by Peter Eames, despite having played up the hill.

The visitors then scored less than  a minute into the second half via a great kick and chase from Berwick Smith and they proceeded to step up the pressure.

Having been called in at late notice and nursing a massive hangover, Karl Bramwell crossed the line twice, the second with a 50 metre run down the wing.

Ben Arnold used his sublime skills to ghost in for his first of the game and the ever improving Waring scored his second.

Prop Duncan Dobson, much to the amusement and amazement of his team mates, turned into Dan Carter and sprinted 40 metres before executing a superb chip kick into the corner. Apart from this burst of speed the most incredible thing was that he managed to catch the ball and then work out which foot to kick it with.

Brian McNeilly then took a quick penalty on the half way line and before he worked the ball out he could see that he only had the New Ash full back to beat.

Too slow and with no side step, McNeilly took hold of the poor fellow and dragged him along for the ride, only to come to ground on the try line.

He then failed to show any further pace as the team ran in two more tries, the first scored by the now very tired Dobson and the second by the relentless Paul Northern.

There were three more successful conversions for Eames and one for Arnold as H&B set themselves up nicely for the top of the table clash at home to Gravesend V tomorrow (Saturday).
