Hastings & Bexhill 0 Tonbridge Juddians 57

H&B had a disappointing trip to Tonbridge Juddians and it seemed that the free weekend resulted in the team losing momentum in their approach to the game and what we knew would be a hard test. H&B had improved since the first game of the season against the same opponents and had some confidence that we could turn the result in our favour. However, this was not to be the case and three tries and conversions from the home side in the first fifteen minutes resulted in a 21-0 deficit that H&B never recovered.

For the first time this season the pack struggled to provide effective and quick ball for the backs and it wasn't until the second half when H&B were already 33 - 0 behind that any patterns of attacking play emerged through centres Tom Grellier, playing his first game for the club this season, and Toby Finzel who both tried to inject pace and guile into H&B attacking play.

Despite a minor territorial and possession improvement H&B still gifted the home side with four more tries in the second half for a 57 - 0 loss.

Coach Gary Walsh said 'the experience of the Tonbridge side today showed and as we lost confidence in our game they grew in theirs and we never looked like we had the right mental attitude to the game. We will have to pick ourselves up next week for the home league game against Eastbourne otherwise we could fine ourselves sliding away from the top of the league"
